Earlier this week LeCamping announced the Kick Off Party for their 3rd Season of LeCamping, and while they may have forgotten to include the date of the event (It’s June 4th), they certainly are inviting all of Paris to attend. LeCamping will be announcing which startups have been accepting into season three (I believe there were more than a hundred that applied and only twelve will be accepted), as well as showing off the successes of their first two seasons.
The First Two Seasons
While I’m sure LeCamping will have plenty of things to show off for every one of the ex-Campers, I can think of a few top-level announcements that will be made:
- Skerou recently launched their mobile shopping app for iPhone – this app has been in the making for a year, and I’ll be testing it out for the next few weeks before I give feedback. We wrote about them and their competitors a few months back, and mentioned some of the unique features that Skerou is bringing to the social shopping space – needless to say, this is not something you could replicate on your own.
- DocTrackr: Having recently gone through the TechStars Boston program, DocTrackr (as well as PsychoSoft, another French TechStars Boston team) are rumored to be getting ready close a $1M+ round of funding for their secure PDF software.
- QUNB: This big data company, which has been providing a “one-stop shop for figures,” is rumored to be working on a deal with [A Major Client]. While the deal has not been announced yet, it will likely be done by the kickoff, so looks for some [corporate] reps to be attending the event.
Season Three: New Campers and a New EIR
In addition to new startups to be selected, you can also expect LeCamping to be announcing their new EIR, Peter Savvas. Australian born living in Paris, his linkedin profile suggests a strong consulting and finance background, although no official startup experience. LeCamping was previously looking for an “ass-kicking” EIR, so it’ll be interesting to see how Peter will be kicking the asses of the Season 3 Campers. The call for a new season three Entrepreneur in Residence came late-notice after season two EIR Patrick Perlmutte decided not to stay on for a third season in order to join LeCamping team Infint.io as their CMO.
