Last week at Dublin Web Summit, there were plenty of French startups to see. Along with Allmyapps & Clever Cloud, Bordeaux-based Storific competed in DWS’ Spark of Genius startup competition, and made it as far as the semi-finals (top 16 out of 100 competing) before being knocked out by a iPhone-controlled vibrator and a Kickstarter project (seriously). The startup recently launched its smart ordering companion with a fair amount of buzz, especially after it announced it was working with Paypal to help Paypal-enabled stores give people the ability to order in advance.

Backed by Kima Ventures & Vente-Prive founder Jacques-Antoine Granjon, CEO & Founder Michael Cohen & BizDev Director Kyle Eren were the perfect duo at the conference. Cohen, former EMEA Business Developer at Netvibes, isn’t shy about his mild French accent, while Kyle, “The American,” was calm and smooth as he talked about his work with Storific.
Storific is still pretty young, but the potential & vision are big. Making it possible for iPhone users to order in advance of their arrival at their favorite cafe or take-away place has great potential. We’ll definitely be keeping an eye on their progress.
