At Mobile Web Congress in Barcelona this week, Stonehenge Telecom Holdings has announced the acquisition Supranetcom, a Paris-based software vendor who specializes in the design of telecom software platforms for delivering Value-Added Services (VAS) and Mobile Financial Services (MFS). The acquisition, which occurred last May 2012, has expanded Stonehenge’s offering in the Telecom space, and has given Supranetcom the ability to offer its telecom software platforms to entire new markets.
Since the merger, Supranetcom has already launched new software new software platform deployments in North Africa, including a strategic partnership with a leading Mobile Network Operator through which Supranetcom launched MoneyM, its new Mobile Financial Services platform with an integrated Virtual Wallet. MoneyM provides mobile operators with the unique ability to extend their services to existing customers and provide financial connectivity to individuals with no previous banking relationships.Subscribers with a few key strokes can easily conduct financial transactions such as Merchant payments, Peer-to-Peer Money transfers, Mobile Top-ups and Bill-Pay.
Supranetcom is also launching a new product family targeting the area of mobile multimedia and streaming services for Mobile Operators enabling them to provide multimedia-based services such as Ringback Tones, Background Music, Karaoke, and Music on Demand services. Supranetcom’s primary clients are Telecom Carriers, Mobile Operators, Service Providers, Large Enterprises and Financial Institutions.
While the terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed, Stonehenge also acquired British telecom company Annecto at the same time last year in what appears to be the company’s attempt to strengthen its European presence.
