This coming March 25th will see the first edition of ‘Temoignages du Cloud’, which will bring together several key actors in France’s Cloud ecosystem to discuss cloud driven innovation. As enterprises everywhere have either already moved their information, processes, etc to the Cloud or have plans to do so, the organizers felt the time was right to explore in more detail the innovations coming out of the cloud computing space. The conference will seek to accomplish this in a more practical rather than theoretical way by having their speakers focus on an innovative Cloud projects that have been or are currently being implemented in their organizations.
The organizers have recruited several heavy hitters from the Cloud ecosystem as speakers, including:
- John McGreachie, VP Sales at Evernote
- Christian Comtat, Directeur Cloud Computing at IBM
- Philippe Mouly, Directeur des Trains at SNCF
- Patrick Anguet, Pressident of Iass / Pass Comission at EuroCloud, who will give the opening keynote
- Dante Planterose, Associate at Kawet, a startup offering app-enabled entreprise mobile and tablet workspaces
- Tariq Krim, Vice President of CNNum and CEO Jolicloud, who will be doing the closing keynote
I caught up with conference organizer Adrien Cabo to get some additional thoughts from him on the conference as well as where Cloud innovation is heading:
Why did you decide to organize this conference?
We thought it would be interesting to bring together rising startups and established companies to see how they actually manage to innovate these days thanks to the Cloud. They all agree on the same point; namely that cloud computing can positively impact businesses and the daily lives of their employees. The SNCF mobile app (for their 12k controllers) which will be presented during the conference is a good example; internal processes have been simplified considerably and controllers can work in a more efficient way.
What do you hope participants will get out of the conference?
We’ve asked our speakers to share meaningful feedback on one particular Cloud project from their organizations and give their vision of the future. So I hope these inspiring speeches will enlighten them. It will also be a great opportunity to network with other professionals from the French Cloud Ecosystem.
What are the next big Cloud innovations you think we might soon see?
I’ll leave it up to Tariq Krim to offer a vision on this as he will be tackling this subject during his closing keynote. But I will say though that one of the things that I like about this ecosystem is that B2B has become sexy again. There used to be huge barriers to entry in the enterprise market, but the cards have been redistributed in the past few years. Individuals are now picking the hardware and software that they want to use everyday; they are increasingly the ones who are making the buying decisions. This is how new services like Evernote, Jolicloud, or Kawet can rise within enterprises, by building products for consumers first. All this is quite exciting. It’s hard to tell what the next innovations might be because they can come from anyone or anywhere.
