Uber announced via email this week that it will have a fleet of black car private chauffeurs at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, which kicks off tomorrow in Cannes, France. The world-renowned film festival regularly attracts A-list celebrities, along with some of the greatest films of the season. In addition, as a part of Uber’s greater initiative, 1€ from every Uber ride in Cannes will go to The Heart Fund, an American association looking to fight cardio-vascular diseases.
This marks the third city in which Uber has sprung up in France, after launching in Lyon late last year – while it’s not sure whether Uber will stick around after the film festival finishes, this may mark a new change in how Uber operates – a pop-up chauffeur service may be the key to keeping operations costs down and value up. The @Uber_Cannes Twitter account has been responding to plenty of questions from users around whether Uber Cannes will stick around after the festival ends on the 26th of May – their answers have all left a little to the imagination, and a lot to be desired.
For those of you heading down to Cannes tomorrow, I’ve been told that the code “uberrude” can be used for a 10€ rebate – hopefully it’ll work for everyone in Cannes.
