TechCrunch will bring its popular Disrupt event to Berlin for the first tme on October 28th – 29th. They’ll be kicking-off a jammed packed event week with a big Hackathon on Oct 26th-27th, followed by the main event on Oct 28th-29th.
TechCrunch Disrupt aims not only to address the most important topics facing today’s tech landscape via one-on-one chats with top entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, etc such as Airbnb’s Nate Blecharczyk, Box’s Aaron Levie, Soundcloud’s Alexander Ljung, and Saul Klein and Neil Rimer of Index Ventures, but also to give equal time to the startup community to showcase what it can do. Undoubtedly, the two biggest startup focused parts of the week include:
- Startup Battlefield: A competition at the heart of TechCrunch Disrupt, some 20 companies will get the opportunity to launch their products on the Disrupt stage before a live and online audience and a panel of expert judges. 6 of the 20 will then be selected for the final round where they’ll have a shot at taking away the €40,000 grand prize and the coveted Disrupt Cup.
- Startup Alley: Running on the same days as the main event, some 100 early-stage startups will be on display (50 on each-day). Each day an ‘Audience Choice Winner’ from Startup Alley will be chosen to present onstage in Startup Battlefield. As mentioned there will also be a Hackaton during the weekend leading up to the main event on the 28th and 29th. Hackathon winners will also have their chance to shine by getting the chance to present on the main stage during Startup Battlefield.
