The electronic cigarette is mostly used by people who want to quit, so it makes sense to add tracking capabilities to monitor how you are doing in your 2014 resolution. You can connect Smokio’s cigarette to your phone to see your history of consumption. There is also a nice feature that lets you see the impact on your health of all those nicotine-filled cigarettes you didn’t smoke.
Smokio is based in Paris but what really makes us proud is that all the electronics are also made in France. This is another example of how the French have very good capabilities for building great hardware and connecting it with software. We haven’t tested the product but it seems a well-rounded device, with a decent design, good functionality, and a very nice app. It’s one of those products that just make sense. As the objects around us are getting more and more connected, we should start with those that can have a real impact on our health just by quantifying our behavior.
For those of you looking to get a connected cigarette from Smokio, the product is not yet ready for shipping. The company will be launching a Kickstarter campaign very soon and I think they will reach their goal way quicker than they thought! We are paying close attention to Smokio and will update when there is word about their launch, in the meantime you can follow them @followsmokio.
