The smart data expert FMCG, Alkemics, has just closed a €5 million in Series A funding with Index leading the round and Partech joining. Cofounded by Antoine Durieux, Antoine Perrin, and Benoit Portoleau-Balloy, Alkemics (previously known as Chef Jerome) is the expert in helping FMCG companies to manage, share and deliver information to consumers across multiple channels via their leading online collaborative platform Product Stream.
Product Stream allows brands to take a cross-channel approach to managing and sharing product information, including retail, websites, apps and promotional leaflets. A true big data play, their Product Stream engine is driven by a human-like understanding of products and direct connection to retailers, which allows brands to push the most relevant information and content to different types of consumers.
Their new investors recognized right away how Alkemics‘ solution could change the game in terms of how FMCGs connect with and market to consumers. Index partner Dominique Vidal underscores this point stating: “The first time we learnt about Alkemics technology, we immediately understood its potential to disrupt the FMCG market. Their vision and talent coupled with their propensity to innovate reminds us Criteo’s DNA at its beginning. Investing in Alkemics was the natural next step for us.”
Customers, namely the big FMCGs, have quickly realized the value Alkemics’ technology can bring their businesses. As a result, Alkemics has taken-off, with 800 brands including P&G, Nestle and Danone already using Product Stream.
This latest round of funding will help them team build quickly on the successes they have had thus far, by reinforcing their excellence on the tech side of things, expanding their customer base, and, presumably, moving quickly into new markets.
