Sculpteo have quickly become the international reference in online 3D printing with a range of software tools that have made 3D printing easy and accessible to both professionals and individuals. They continue to build on this success, having just announced the closing of a € 5 million round with XAnge and Creadev, a Mulliez family holding company. As underscored by Sculpteo Chairman Eric Carreel, having XAnge and Creadev on-board will bring significant strategic value to Sculpteo given their solid track record in “building leading companies in the retail and logistics sectors.”
Individuals and companies across various sectors have flocked to Sculpteo as they’ve become a true alternative to traditional manufacturing, offering a 3D printing service capable of producing single units, small series and larger series in record time. Several companies are already using Sculpteo for prototyping, including Skoda, Hexadrone, Dassault Systemes, Knuckies, and Withings. However, others are also using their solutions in small and large-scale production, including AudioQuest which has selected 3D large-scale industrial manufacturing for its award-winning award-winning NightHawk headphones.
Sculpteo delivers a veritable factory in the cloud, combining on-line interface with a number of latest generation 3D printers. This has enabled them to extend 3D printing capability to individuals and small business via various retail / b-to-c partners who market 3D manufactured objects, including via Amazon, eBay, Auchan, Intermarché, La Poste, and Orange.
The Sculpteo team plan to leverage this latest investment to speed up their growth and strengthen their industrial capacity and set-up. Expanding globally is also on the top of their agenda. They already have clients throughout the world, generating in excess of 50% of revenues outside of France including 25% in the US. However, the non-US revenue percentage will undoubtedly jump substantially as they continue to roll-out around the globe. Finally, to fuel all this growth, they also plan to double the size of their team by 2016 which currently stands at 50 employees.
